Acupuncture

It involves the insertion of very fine sterilized needles, disposable and never re-used, into the body surface at strategic points. The practitioners will leave the needles in place for about thirty to forty minutes. The use of needles is virtually painless.

Auricular / Ear Acupuncture

Auricular (or ear) Acupuncture is a specialist complementary therapy where acupuncture points on the outer ear are treated with small, sterile, disposable needles to treat many chronic complaints. In Auricular Acupuncture the ear is regarded as a micro-system of the body. The auricle is covered with nearly 200 different acupoints – each one corresponding to a particular area of the anatomy. Auricular Acupuncture treatment involves placing 5 or 6 small, sterile needles in each ear. The points chosen correspond to the area of the body or condition needing treatment. Small press needles or acupressure magnets may be placed on selected points, between sessions, in order to enhance and prolong the effects of the treatment.

Auriculotherapy /Ear Pressure

Auriculotherapy is a form of acupuncture without needles. It involves the stimulation of the auricle of the external ear for the diagnosis and treatment of health conditions in other parts of the body. The ear reflex points are stimulated electrically to treat diseases such as migraine, pain in various parts of the body, asthma, and weight loss, to help stop smoking and various other forms of addiction. It is extremely popular as it has been found to be as effective as acupuncture using needles, but without having to 'invade' the skin! Used for all the same diseases as conventional acupuncture. Effective for weight loss, smoking cessation and other addictions.

Herbal Remedies

Chinese Herbs are an integral part of TCM. They are specially formulated in China and include flowers, leaf stalks, seeds and roots. Each herb is used for specific purposes and performs particular functions.

Moxibustion

The application of mild heat to the body, again at particular points, with glowing moxa wool(a finely chopped herb-folium Artemisia),entirely painless and comfortable. It helps blood and lymph circulation and maintains good health.

Hopi Ear Candling

Hopi ear candles are the traditional long cylindrical ones with a filter. The traditional way to use ear candles is to lie on your side and insert the candle into the ear. Flameproof material, or sometimes just a plate with a hole cut through it, is placed over the face to protect against falling wax or hot ash. Some candles can be inserted into the ear at an angle while the person sits upright with towels placed along the face and shoulder to prevent burns. In any case, it should be done by a professional who can trim the candle as it burns down and not by the person using the ear candle.

In theory, ear candles create suction as they burn which pulls the warmed earwax into the hollow candle and away from the ear, although there isn’t any scientific evidence to support this.
